As I was backing out of a parking space in a garage in tyson's corner today, a woman walked right behind my car. i saw her in time to avoid hitting her, but also in time to see her put her hand up in my direction. The funny thing is that she didn't flinch away from the ton and a half of steel and glass coming at her. In fact, she didn't even turn her head. Just kept right on walking. This leads me to believe that either she was hoping for a little assisted-suicide, or she was ASKING FOR A CHALLENGE!!!

I'm currently reading a collection of short stories by Charles Stross called 'Accelerando'. It's a sort of space-opera that covers the period of human history surrounding a technological singularity. And it's in roughly the exact middle of the middle chapter that i've encountered my favorite line so far (the context is a conversation via software translation in a virtual environment between a posthuman lawyer from earth and recently encountered aliens disguised as giant lobsters who have just been offered the deal of a lifetime):
'"I think something might be arranged," Glashwiecz concedes. "So you want to be – no, to lease the rights to temporarily be human? Why is that?"

"Untranslatable concept #3 means untranslatable concept #4. God told us to."'
That kind of dialogue really gives me the jibblies, in a good way.  Stross is by far the best scifi writer i have ever read.  For those interested, the entirety of Accelerando is available for free at http://www.accelerando.org/.

So, after watching 10 season one episodes in the past two days, I feel safe saying that 'Lost' is my new favorite show. I had a tough time getting into the second season, clearly because there were too many characters and not enough exposition to even be able to remember their names.

My favorite episode so far is 'All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues'. I think it's far and away the creepiest episode so far.

Oh, for anyone who needs to have it in writing:
